Latchy takes us on a trip with new single ‘Foreign Local’
Latchy’s latest track ‘Foreign Local’ is centred on a driving, catchy bass melody and trademark vocals to get you humming, featuring guitars, keys, synths and samples all performed by Latchy.

The Singapore-based Australian artist’s new release, out today, is his first for 2021 following a massive 2020 which saw over 70,000 Spotify listens and a feature on Bandcamp for ‘Soda Dream’, Triple J play for DIYSupergroup entry ‘Stuck’ and an Isol-aid festival appearance.
The song is about feeling out of place suddenly and unexpectedly, with Latchy recording the track while locked out of Australia living in Singapore. “2020 was a tough year for so many people and I think it left a lot of us feeling displaced,” Latchy said.
“Whether it was the pandemic, politics or the way we connected, lots of things became very polarised and it could be confronting to see where people you thought you knew stood on things. At the end of the day the song is about trying to overcome that, see eye to eye, and ultimately dancing it off.”
The cross-border collaboration also features Aussie artists Kyle Goulding (Kilo) on bass, production and mixing from Jack Arentz (Haxx, Kult Kyss), and Klaus ‘Heavyweight’ Hill (Setmo, Paces) on mastering duties.
Latchy will be playing a series of live streamed gigs in April to support the release.
‘Foreign Local’ is out 23 March on Triple J Unearthed, Spotify, iTunes and all good streaming platforms.
